March 2008 : AMCHAM Chile Legal Committee meeting with Prof. David A. Gantz.

SUBJECT : U.S.A. FTA´s and the prospects of U.S. foreign trade policy.

SPEAKER: Prof. David A. Gantz , Director of the Master of Laws in International Trade Law Program at The University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law, and Associate Director of the National Law Center for Inter-American Free Trade.

On Friday, March 13 th , 2008, Prof. David A. Gantz was invited by the AMCHAM Chile Legal Committee to lecture about the main characteristics of the new Free Trade Agreements (FTA´s) signed by the U.S. with countries in the region, after the conclusion of the FTA with Chile. During his exposition, Prof. Gantz emphasized some peculiarities of the agreements signed with Panama , Peru , Colombia and Central America, and pointed out similarities and differences between them and the agreement signed with Chile .

Also, Professor Gantz exchanges with the attendees his view about the future of U.S. Foreign Trade and Integration Policies, analyzing possible new scenarios in a year of presidential elections in the U.S.

Finally, a round of questions took place, at which Legal Committee members, and members of the Centro Jurídico ILC , had the chance to exchange ideas with the speaker about these topics.
